On the other hand, I'm not in a world of imagination, so from that perspective, yes, I feel like I'm in the real world.Īlso. I can't engage the physical world through physical means, for example.

I am curious to know how you feel when you are astral projecting, do you actually feel as if you are in the real world? The point is to clear up confusion caused by a growing tendency in the community, particularly newer members, to use both terms to refer to only one phenomenon. When such people talk about astral projection, know that lucid dreaming is not what's being discussed. If you use the terms interchangeably, know that there is another phenomenon out there which some of us refer to as "astral projection" that has nothing to do with what you're talking about. I don't have any power to declare what the correct use of these terms are. My point: if you want to use the terms lucid dreaming and astral projection interchangeably, knock yourself out. Their subconscious had simply astrally projected. (I do know that some people allegedly travel out of body while sleeping, and occasionally friends and family have even seen them. I have successfully performed each of the preceding on numerous occasions. Because astral projection (as I use the term) is a bona fide magickal phenomenon.Īs you can see, the experience and reality of these two phenomenon couldn't be more different from one another.

That is, unless you bring your soul with you (but that's a different topic) or know how to reach back into your body and pull more energy out of it (which is yet another topic).

Of course, if you do magick, you will use up part of the energy that comprises your body, so you'll weaken or depelete the body you're traveling around in. Before returning to your body, you can do real magick that affects the real world, because all magick is at the end of the day is energy manipulation, and your body is made of energy. Thereafter you could return to your body, resume normal waking consciousness, and go talk to the person you were spying on about what they were doing, because you were in the real world. You can pass through walls and see what another person in the vicinity of your energy body is doing. You are as a ghost you cannot lift items with your hands, you cannot open doors, people (usually) cannot see you or sense you, unless of course they can normally perceive ghosts.

You can look down and see your dormant body. You are in the real world (unless you decide to plane shift, but that's a different topic). (I bet you can't guess what ended up happening in all the lucid dreams I had as an adolescent.) If we agree that real magick creates real change in the real world, then this isn't magick.Īstral Projection (aka going "out of body"): This is what happens when you're awake (usually), you enter a trance, you create an energy body, you position your consciousness and some of your physical senses into the energy body, and you leave your physical body passive and dormant, maneuvering through the real world via your energy body. You're in control, it all feels physical, you'll enjoy the sex. You can touch objects in your environment like normal, pick things up, open and close doors, and make sexy people appear in front of you who want nothing so much as to tear your clothing off and have sex with you.

You can tell you are lucid dreaming because you gain partial or full control of the dream, i.e. Because you are dreaming, you are not in the real world. Lucid Dreaming: This is what happens when you are asleep, enter REM stage sleep (usually), and then become aware that you are dreaming. Don't gate-keep me and tell me they are the same thing. I call one of those phenomena "lucid dreaming" and I call the other "astral projection". My point is only to compare and contrast two different phenomena. If you want to call lucid dreaming "astral projection", knock yourself out. Words are just labels they carry no meaning besides whatever meaning we attach to them.
